Biography
Dr. Lakin works on theoretical and experimental aspects of molecular computing using DNA, in collaboration with the UNM Center for Biomedical Engineering. He is interested in building tools for the design of molecular computers, working on reasoning techniques to understand and verify their behavior, constructing experimental systems that exhibit novel dynamic behaviors, and developing interfaces of molecular computers with biological and chemical systems with a view to practical applications. His current experimental work encompasses DNA strand displacement DNAzyme-catalyzed substrate cleavage reactions.
