Jianzhong Yang was born in Hunan, however, he grew up in Guangdong, China, where he received most of his education. He got his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Shantou University in 2011. He left his country and started his PhD program in the University of New Mexico in Aug, 2011, and he obtained his PhD in organic/materials chemistry in Dec, 2016. After his graduation, he joined the Biosafe technologies, LLC in Jan, 2017 as a research scientist for the development of light-activated antimicrobials. At the end of 2017, he went back to the University of New Mexico and worked as a research assistant professor in the Center for Biomedical Engineering.

Research Interests

  • Organic/polymer synthesis, spectroscopy, molecular assemblies, diagnostics, conjugated polymers hydrogel and antimicrobials.
